Birdman (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
Birdman (also known as Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and styled as BIRDMAN or (THE UNEXPECTED VIRTUE OF IGNORANCE)) is a 2014 American black comedy-drama film directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. It was written by Iñárritu, Alexander Dinelaris Jr., and Armando Bo Sr. The film stars Michael Keaton as Riggan Thomson, a washed-up actor who once played an iconic superhero character, and features a supporting cast that includes Emma Stone, Edward Norton, and Zach Galifianakis.
The film tells the story of Thomson's attempt to revive his career by adapting a Broadway play, which leads him to confront his own insecurities and personal demons. The film explores themes of ego, fame, and the human condition, and features a unique visual style and narrative structure that blurs the lines between reality and fantasy.
Birdman was a critical and commercial success, earning numerous awards and nominations, including nine Academy Award nominations and four wins, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay. It also won the Grand Prize at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. The film's success was seen as a comeback for Keaton, who had been struggling to find work in Hollywood after the decline of his popularity in the early 2000s.
