Grasmere is a village and civil parish in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, England. It is located in the Lake District National Park, about 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Keswick and 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Ambleside. The village is situated on the shores of Grasmere Water, a lake that is popular for boating and fishing.
Grasmere is known for its association with William Wordsworth, who lived in the village from 1799 to 1808 and wrote many of his famous poems there. The Wordsworth Museum, located in the village, features exhibits on Wordsworth's life and works, as well as a collection of his manuscripts and other memorabilia.
The village is also home to several other attractions, including the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, which has been making gingerbread using a traditional recipe since 1854, and the Grasmere Sports, a traditional sports day that takes place every August.
