Discover Newham: A Vibrant East London Borough
Newham is a London borough in East London, England. It was formed in 1965 by merging the former metropolitan boroughs of West Ham and East Ham. The name "Newham" was chosen to reflect the new status of the merged borough.
Newham is located in the eastern part of London, bordering the River Thames to the north, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to the east, the London Borough of Hackney to the northwest, and the London Borough of Waltham Forest to the northeast. It is one of the most populous boroughs in London, with a diverse population of around 340,000 people.
Newham has undergone significant regeneration efforts in recent years, particularly in the Stratford area, which hosted the Olympic Park during the 2012 Summer Olympics. The borough is home to several major parks, including Victoria Park and the Olympic Park, as well as several museums and cultural institutions, such as the Museum of London Docklands and the Theatre Royal Stratford East.
Newham has a diverse economy, with a mix of light industry, retail, and service sectors. The borough is also home to several major transportation hubs, including Stratford station, which serves as a major interchange for the London Underground, Overground, and National Rail networks.
