Friends of the Trees: Empowering Community Stewardship for a Greener Toronto
FOT stands for "Friends of the Trees". It is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1989 with the mission of planting and caring for trees in the city of Toronto. The organization works to improve the urban environment by planting and maintaining trees, as well as educating the public about the importance of trees in the city.
FOT's main activities include:
* Planting trees in parks, streets, and other public spaces
* Maintaining existing trees through pruning, watering, and mulching
* Educating the public about the benefits of trees and how to care for them
* Advocating for the protection and preservation of Toronto's urban forest
FOT relies on volunteers and donations to support its activities. The organization has planted over 100,000 trees in Toronto since its founding and continues to work towards a greener, healthier city for all residents.
