Hidatsa Tribe: History, Culture, and Traditions
Hidatsa (Hidatsa: Hidatsa, "People of the Hidatsa") is a Native American tribe that traditionally lived in the Missouri River Valley in what is now North Dakota and South Dakota. They were part of the Great Plains culture area and were known for their skill in hunting buffalo and their intricate beadwork and quillwork.
The Hidatsa are enrolled in the Three Affiliated Tribes, which also includes the Mandan and Arikara tribes. Today, the Hidatsa people continue to live in North Dakota and maintain their cultural traditions through festivals, ceremonies, and educational programs.
