The Visible Fruits of Phanerocarpous Plants
Phanerocarpous (Greek: φανερός, "visible" and καρπός, "fruit") is a term used in botany to describe plants that produce visible fruits or flowers. These plants are often showy and colorful, and their fruits or flowers are easily visible to the naked eye.
In contrast, plants that produce invisible or inconspicuous fruits or flowers are called cryptocarpous (Greek: κρυπτός, "hidden" and καρπός, "fruit"). Cryptocarpous plants may have small, greenish flowers or fruits that are not easily visible to the naked eye.
The terms phanerocarpous and cryptocarpous are often used in plant classification and identification to help distinguish between different types of plants based on their reproductive structures.
