Understanding Amplitude in Waves
Amplitude is the maximum displacement of a wave from its equilibrium position. In other words, it is the largest distance that a wave can move away from its resting position.
For example, if you have a water wave in a pool, the amplitude of the wave would be the height of the wave above the surface of the water. If you have a sound wave, the amplitude would be the loudness of the sound.
In general, the amplitude of a wave determines how strong or intense the wave is. A wave with a large amplitude will be stronger and more intense than a wave with a small amplitude.
