Understanding BBLs: A Guide to Oil and Liquid Measurement
BBLs stands for "Billion Barrels". It is a unit of measurement used to express the volume of oil or other liquids. One BBL is equal to 42,000 US gallons or 159,000 liters.
For example, if an oil field is estimated to contain 1 million BBLs of oil, it means that the field has the potential to produce 1 million x 42,000 = 42 million US gallons of oil.
