Understanding CET and CEST Time Zones in Europe
CETE (Central European Time) is the time zone used in many countries in Europe, including Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, and others. It is based on the mean solar time at 0° longitude, which is equivalent to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) plus one hour. In other words, CET is UTC+1.
CET is used during the winter months, when daylight saving time is not in effect. During the summer months, these countries observe Central European Summer Time (CEST), which is UTC+2.
