Gosplan (short for Gosudarstvennyi Plan, or State Plan) was the central planning agency of the Soviet Union. It was responsible for setting economic and social targets and allocating resources to achieve them. The agency was established in 1929 and existed until the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.
