Understanding Nonmetaphorical Language
Nonmetaphorically means something that is not expressed using a metaphor or figurative language. It refers to a literal, direct, and straightforward way of expressing something.
For example, if someone says "I'm feeling really happy today," the word "happy" is being used nonmetaphorically because it is a direct description of their emotional state. On the other hand, if someone says "I'm flying high today," the phrase "flying high" is a metaphorical expression that doesn't literally describe their emotional state, but rather conveys a sense of euphoria or excitement.
In general, nonmetaphorical language is more straightforward and factual, while metaphorical language is more figurative and evocative.
