Understanding Nonmountainous Regions: Flat and Low-Lying Areas
Nonmountainous refers to areas that are not mountainous or hilly. It is often used to describe regions that are relatively flat or low-lying, in contrast to mountainous regions.
For example, the Great Plains of North America are considered nonmountainous because they are a vast expanse of flat land with no significant mountains or hills. Similarly, the coastal plain of Florida is also considered nonmountainous because it is largely flat and low-lying.
In contrast, mountainous regions like the Rocky Mountains, the Himalayas, or the Alps are characterized by steep slopes, peaks, and valleys, and are therefore not considered nonmountainous.
