What is a Duodecimo?
A duodecimo (short for "twelve-twelfths") is a book size that is equal to 12mo (twelvemo) or demy 12mo. It is a small format book, typically measuring between 12 and 13 cm (4.7 and 5.1 in) tall.
The term "duodecimo" was first used in the 16th century to describe books printed on paper that was one-twelfth the size of a standard sheet of paper. This size was popular for small, portable books, such as prayer books and dictionaries.
In modern times, the term "duodecimo" is still used to describe books of this size, although it is not as commonly used as other book sizes, such as "pocket" or "trade paperback."
