Blister Beetles: The Defensive Insects with a Painful Secret
Meloidae is a family of beetles commonly known as blister beetles. They are so named because their elytra (wing covers) have a blister-like shape and contain a defensive fluid that can cause irritation or blistering when touched or ingested. There are over 3,000 species of Meloidae found throughout the world, with the majority being found in the tropics.
