Blackshear is a town located in Pierce County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,749 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Waycross, Georgia micropolitan area.
Blackshear was founded in 1856 as a depot on the Savannah, Florida and Western Railway. The town was named for one of the railroad's directors, Col. William Blackshear. The town grew rapidly during the late 19th century, with the construction of a courthouse, a jail, and several stores and hotels.
Today, Blackshear is known for its historic downtown area, which features many preserved Victorian-era homes and buildings. The town also hosts several annual events, including the Blackshear Festival, which celebrates the town's history and culture.
