Qum (Persian: قم, also Romanized as Qom) is the capital city of Qom Province in Iran. At the 2016 census, its population was 1,147,539. Qom is a major center of religious scholarship and learning for Shia Muslims, and is considered one of the holiest cities in Shia Islam.
