Teaneck, New Jersey - A Growing Township with Rich History

Teaneck is a township in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. It was formed on February 19, 1862, from portions of the now-defunct Township of New Barbadoes. As of the 2020 United States Census, the township's population was 43,576, reflecting an increase of 1,958 (+4.6%) from the 41,618 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 3,235 (+8.3%) from the 38,383 counted in the 1990 Census.

Teaneck is located at 40°47′N 74°00′W (40.7986° N, 74.0000° W). According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 12.5 square miles (20.1 km²), of which 12.3 square miles (21.7 km²) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.5 km², or 1.69%) is water.

Teaneck is situated in the northwestern part of Bergen County, bordering the Hudson River to the east and the Hackensack River to the west. The township is located approximately 15 miles (24 km) northwest of New York City and is considered a suburb of Manhattan.
