Understanding Anticodons in Protein Synthesis
Anticodon is a sequence of three nucleotides in a transfer RNA (tRNA) molecule that is complementary to the codon in the messenger RNA (mRNA) molecule. The anticodon is located on the tRNA molecule at the end opposite the amino acid it carries. When the tRNA molecule binds to the mRNA molecule, the anticodon base pairs with the codon, allowing the tRNA molecule to read the genetic code and bring the appropriate amino acid to the ribosome for protein synthesis.
