Understanding Intravascular: Definition, Examples, and Significance
Intravascular refers to within or inside a blood vessel. Intravascularly is an adverb form of the word, indicating that something is happening or located within a blood vessel.
For example, an intravascular injection is one that is delivered directly into a blood vessel, as opposed to an extravascular injection which is delivered outside of a blood vessel. Similarly, an intravascular device is one that is placed inside a blood vessel, such as a stent or a catheter.
Intravascularly can also be used to describe the movement of substances or cells within a blood vessel, such as the intravascular transport of nutrients or the intravascular spread of infection.
