Understanding the Role of a Bishop in the Church
Bishopdom is a term used to describe the office or jurisdiction of a bishop. A bishop is a high-ranking member of the clergy who is responsible for overseeing a specific geographic area, known as a diocese, and guiding the spiritual and administrative needs of the people within that area. The bishop is also responsible for ordaining and appointing priests and other church officials, as well as performing sacraments and other religious rituals. In some Christian denominations, the bishop may also have authority over multiple dioceses or regions, and may be known as an archbishop or metropolitan.
