What is Finite?

Finite refers to something that has a limited or definite amount of elements, as opposed to infinite, which has no end or limit. In mathematics, a finite set is one that has a fixed number of elements, and a finite sequence is one that has a fixed number of terms. A finite number is one that can be expressed as the sum of a limited number of other numbers, such as 5 or 10.

In contrast, an infinite set is one that has no end, and an infinite sequence is one that goes on indefinitely. An infinite number is one that cannot be expressed as the sum of a limited number of other numbers, such as the set of all natural numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.).
