In contrast, a suppositional statement or argument is one that is based on an assumption or presumption that is widely accepted or proven to be true, and is used as the basis for further reasoning or conclusion. For example, if someone argues that "all humans are mortal" based on the assumption that "all humans die eventually," this would be a suppositional argument because it is based on an assumption that is widely accepted as true.
