


Unveiling Xenophora - The Stranger-Carrying Proboscidean
Xenophora (Greek: ξενοφόρος, "carrying a stranger") is a genus of extinct proboscideans that lived during the Miocene and Pliocene epochs. The type species, Xenophora pyrum, was described by Owen in 1873 from fossil remains found in the London Clay Formation in England.
Note: Proboscideans are a group of mammals that includes elephants and their extinct relatives.
