Understanding Hadst: The Archaic Past Tense of Have
"Hadst" is the archaic third person singular past tense of the verb "have". It is no longer commonly used in modern English, and has been replaced by the word "had" in most contexts.
For example, instead of saying "thou hast", you would say "you have" in modern English. Similarly, instead of saying "he hadst", you would say "he had" or "he possessed".
